The Michael Herring Quartet is a project that explores the influences and sounds of 1960’s jazz in a classic chord-less quartet format.  Influenced by (and playing the music of), Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington.  With Chris Gale and David French playing tenor and baritone saxophone, and Nick Fraser on drums.

The Uplifters

The Uplifters lovingly craft music that is soaked in the classic New Orleans funk, soul, jazz  and rock n roll traditions of Professor Longhair, Allen Toussaint, Dr. John, Preservation Hall, the Treme Brass band and Irma Thompson. They take side trips into the haunts of post punk, new wave and rock n roll artists They Might Be Giants, Lou Reed, Television, and Devo. They revel before the singer-songwriter altars of Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young and Bob Dylan, and they visit the Afro-Cuban worlds of Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente and Willie Colon along the way. It’s unpredictable. It’s fun. It’s the Uplifters!
